Gear for those poor poor people who care (bless your souls)

Rick has used a lot of gear over the years. Here's my best attempt to list them all. These are sourced from various websites.

MiniMoog
Do I even need to explain? It's hard to find Rick somewhere without his MiniMoog(s). Hell, even I own a budget clone, I love the thing to death. It was everywhere in the 70s, slowly became lame in the 80s an 90s with FM and sampling, but has had a resurgence as of late.
Moog Taurus II
Only mentioned as being in Retro and Retro 2, but I'm willing to bet it was all over his other work. One of Moog's legendary bass synths, I would love one but they are EXPENSIVE!! I think Rick may have sold his in his great 2020 Reverb purge?
PolyMoog
Used on Criminal Record and Retro, also thoroughly used in Yes.

Mellotron 400-D
I'd say if its in the 70s it probably has a Mellotron on it. The Red Planet also brings this back, which is nice. Of course it was on Retro.

Hammond C3 Organ
Basically on everything in the 70s. Also all of Rick's iconic moments in Yes feature a Hammond in use or by his side.
Hammond Sk1
A modern organ. Spotted on tours in 2016. Surprises me as he is a long time Korg Enthusiast and generally speaking their modern workstations (Kronos, Nautilus etc) have pretty decent organ engines on them. And since he takes them with him all the time, I thought he would be using that.

Fender Rhodes Electric Piano
On Criminal Record, White Rock, and No Earthly Connection as far as I'm aware.

Hohner Clavinet
Alllll over the 70s. Iconic moments in Journey and No Earthly Connection. Also in White Rock and Criminal Record.

RMI Keyboard Computer
On White Rock and Criminal Record. A Solina type machine in which you choose layers of instruments like 'strings' or 'bells' or 'organ'.
RMI Rocksichord
A bit of an old beastie from the 60's. Apparently only used on White Rock but I have doubts. He probably just forgot to list the other moments. He also calls it a 'Roxichord' despite me only finding a 'Rocksichord' or a 'Rock-Si-Chord'.
RMI Electra Piano
Used apparently for Six Wives of Henry VIII and No Earthly Connection...

Birotron
This is something special. A wonderful machine used on Criminal Record (according to the album sleeve, on Statue of Justice, Crime of Passion and The Breathalyser), aimed to be a successor to the Mellotron and was financed by Rick. Only 2 working models are left, and are degrading over time. Such a shame, as it a beautiful sounding instrument and I would love for someone to give it a thorough examination and convert it into a VST. If you are interested in the history of this instrument, Chris Dale is painstakingly restoring, reviving and cataloging this incredible instrument. Please give him your support!

Yamaha CS-80
A late 70s and early 80's staple, used on The Burning and 1984. Noticed that this thing has a bit of a cult following in synth circles. It was 100kg and had wires coming out of it in all directions, as well as being expensive as hell. I do love it though. If you want one, get off reverb and get the plugin girlie!
Yamaha Montage 7
Again used in his 2016 touring rig. This intrigues me as it's a live performance instrument only, you can't save presets, you can just tweak things live. Very odd for a modern synth, but that's how we used to do it back in the day! < -- like I was there in the 70s
Yamaha V50
The Reverb listing for this item claimed that it was used on The Six Wives of Henry VIII. You know. The album from 1973. When this synth came out in 1989. Oh Rick Rick Rick.... not false advertising now are we? Don't believe me? Look for yourself! I will give him the benefit of the doubt here and say that this was probably used on versions of Six Wives played live or on albums at the time of it's release. Or that whichever intern was tasked with creating the listing at Wakeman HQ just copy-pasted text from another listing.
Yamaha QY70 Music Sequencer
Namedropped in a Sound on Sound interview from the 90s. Doesn't feature on his site so I have no idea where this little thing would've sat in his discography. My guess is at least Return To the Centre of The Earth and maaayybee Fields of Green '97 in that opening King Arthur Election track, but I have no clue.

Prophet 5
Used on The Burning, 1984, and Retro (and I imagine more). Believe it or not, Rick actually had input on the development of this synth!
Prophet 10
He mentions on his site that the only album he used the Prophet 10 on was The Burning, but it is also stated to be on 1984? We may never know, alcoholism is no joke.
Sequential Circuits Prophet Remote
Known to be used by him via his 2020 great Reverb purge. No clue what it could be used on. Golé! is mentioned as featuring a 'Sequential Circuits' (???) so it's possible this could have been there, but it could also have been used for live rigs.

ARP Omni
Featured on The Burning. Surprising that it isn't featured at all anywhere else (although it probably is) but I imagine this filled a similar niche to the RMI Keyboard Computer. Idk, maybe they weren't cool to him anymore.

Synclavier
Only mentioned for 1984, not anywhere else. A shame, as I think Rick would've benefitted from keeping the Synclavier around. I'd rather that than any 90s rompler setting.

Korg 01W ProX
Used on Return to the Centre of The Earth and Christmas Variations.
Korg Trinity ProX
On Return to the Centre of The Earth, Christmas Variations and Chronicles of Man. The kinda.. whole point of workstations was that they were meant to have all your sounds in one place for convenience, to stray away from that 'surrounded by keys' situation you would find yourself in back in the 70s. So why does Rick have so damn many??
Korg X5DR
On Return to the Centre of The Earth. A rack unit workstation.
Korg MonoPoly
On Retro and Retro 2. Curiously, not mentioned to be on any of his older albums. Did he buy them specifically to use on those albums? I always just assumed he dug the gear out of his garage.
Korg Electric Piano ES50
Used on Retro, Retro 2, and according to the Reverb listing, 1984. Which makes me think that he probably did just own the MonoPoly and forgot to mention its uses.
Korg Sigma
On Retro and Retro 2 of course, but also made up his live rig for the early 80s.
Korg Trident
Not mentioned on his site, but apparently was listed as one of his 'top 5 synths' in an interview in 2020. Where is it then, Rick?? Where is my boy??
Korg MS2000R
Used in projects with Yes. Won't come for him on this one the MS2000 is awesome.
Korg Prophecy
Said to be on Christmas Variations, and also used with Yes.
Korg PS-3200
Another Reverb refugee. The synth is from 1978 but isn't anywhere on his site. Possibly on Rhapsodies, The Burning, 1984 or Rock n Roll Prophet, but this is just speculation.
Korg VC-10 Vocoder
Used live on choir for a unique chorus effect according to Rick. I also wonder if it was used on Rhapsodies, particularly on that Rhapsody in Blue cover, as the period is right and I can't think of any other vocoder-type equipment he owned at the time (unless he used one in a studio).
Korg Karma
Used with Yes. (STOP BUYING WORKSTATIONS!!)
Korg Wavestation
Used on The Classical Connection according to the CD booklet (good for him!! You need a degree to operate that thing!)
Korg DW-8000
Used for Yes related activities.
Korg EPS-1
Used only on Retro.
Korg T1
Also mentioned in The Classical Connection CD booklet.
Korg CX-3 Organ
Used in live rigs to replace the clunky and heavy as hell Hammond.
Korg RK-100 Keytar
My best guess is that it was used when working with Yes in the 80s and 90s. Another Reverb 2020 purge item.
Korg DS-8
An FM synth from the late 80s. Not mentioned on his site at all and only seen on Reverb. I could imagine this being on Time Machine, A Suite of Gods or Zodiaque.
Korg Kronos X 73
Rick loves the Kronos. Used on live tours (source: I saw it with my own eyes). Also mentioned in The Red Planet booklet.
Korg OASYS 76
Used in live performances. Aside the Korg Kronos X. (??????)

Roland JD 800
Used on Return to the Centre of The Earth and Christmas Variations. He was also touring with this thing up until 2016!! Jesus!
Roland XV-88 Synthesizer
Used with Yes, sold off on Reverb. Apparently mentioned on his website but I couldn't find it.
Roland Fantom-X8
Roland + Workstation = perfect for Rick! Used in his live rigs and used at Starmus.
Roland RD-700
Used with Yes.
Roland V-Synth GT Elastic Audio Synthesizer
Rick loves this thing. He uses it all the time, it was on Red Plant, and I imagine all his live rigs since the thing came out. It was in Live at Hampton Court Palace, and possibly at the gig I went to see.
Roland D70
Apparently used in this video(?) I have no clue where this comes from, around the mid 00s?

Kurzweil K2500R
Rack mounted production station used on Return To the Centre of The Earth.
Kurzweil K2500X
Used on Christmas Variations and apparently this damn video again!

Technics WSA
An acoustic modelling synth from Technics of all people. Used on Return To the Centre of The Earth.

Ensoniq VFX-SD
Ohh boy. This was used in live gigs but given the amount of times Ensoniq is mentioned with no model name I'm willing to bet this is on a lot of Rick's early 90s albums.
Ensoniq Mirage DSK-8
Another Reverb only sort of gear. Could equally as likely have been on any of Rick's early 90s works.

Форманта Поливокс
(Eng: Formanta Polivoks) A minimoog style USSR synth gifted to Rick by a fan. Sold in the great Reverb purge of 2020 :( Rick it was a gift!! Why couldn't you have sold your Roland V-Synth instead?

Gem Promega 3
Used in live and studio in the early 2000s apparently.
Gem Promega 2+
He owns one. That's all I know. Or perhaps it's gone now, I have no other info.

Studiologic Sledge
Used live in 2016, partly to replace the JD 800 which was dying during the tour. Mentioned in The Red Planet booklet.

E-Mu E4 Platinum
Spotted on a rig during Yes related work. The main evidence for this is now gone so it's just a memory. Whether he still has it remains to be seen.

Cheetah Master Series 7P
Only information of this comes from Reverb. I am assuming this is Yes related equipment. Not mentioned on his site. Cheetah was also mentioned in the Softsword booklet.

Disambiguations

ARP Synthesiser(?)
This is mentioned as being on Six Wives of Henry VIII, I'm not sure what he's referring to. Given the year it's most likely an ARP 2600 or an ARP Odyssey.
KORG (?)
Mentioned earliest on Golé!. Next is on Time Machine (oh lordy...), could be the Trident, PolySix, and also the DSS-1 or M1 (see Korg T1 above). Time Machine I feel is guilty of M1 association but I can't prove that!
Sequential Circuits (?)
Mentioned on Golé!. But girlie they are a company. Which ones? Either the Prophet 5 or 10 is my guess.
Roland(?)
Mentioned for No Expense Spared, Lure of The Wild, Softsword, Art in Music, Wakeman with Wakeman the Official Bootleg, and Red Planet (on his site. In the Red Planet booklet they are mentioned by model name).
YAMAHA(?)
Mentioned on Softsword and Wakeman with Wakeman The Official Bootleg. My assumption is that it's probably the V50 on those albums. (Or perhaps a secret synth we have yet to see...)
Ensoniq(?)
No Expense Spared, Softsword, Lure of the Wild, Wakeman with Wakeman The Official Bootleg. Hard to say, it could've been either of his Ensoniq synths on those albums.
Kurzweil(?)
Yeesh, a lot of namedrops. On Themes, White Rock II, Rock & Pop Legends, Vignettes, Visions, No Expense Spared, The Piano Tour Live video apparently, The Word and Music, Lure of The Wild, The New Gospels, Wakeman with Wakeman The Official Bootleg, Orisons and The Natural World Trilogy. This can only be the K2500, it's the only one he had. What an absolute beast of a thing. (And I'm just now coming to realise that some of his most cheesy sounds may have been Kurzweil's responsibility and not Rolands...)
Technics(?)
Similarly mentioned for Vignettes, The Piano Tour Live Video, The Word and Music, The Art in Music Trilogy, Orisons & The Natural World Trilogy. Can only really be the WSA unless Rick is hiding a secret synth under his giant cape.
Sound Crystal Sound Cards(?)
By this exact wording, it's only mentioned on The New Gospels. However, he probably was referring to Voice Crystal Sound Cards, which is mentioned for Themes, The Word and Music, Vignettes, Rock & Pop Legends, The Piano Tour Live Video and Orisons. This is a place for purchasing blank RAM cards for synths that's apparently still going.
EMU(?)
Mentioned on only The Art in Music Trilogy and The Natural World Trilogy. The only E-mu Systems synth he owned was the E4 Platinum, but it could've been their other numerous rack units from the 90s (although it's unlikely).
OBX1 (?)
Mentioned as being on 1984, both on his site and on the record sleeve. The OBX1 or OBXI doesn't exist, but the OBX does. I'm assuming that is what he meant.
RMI Synthesiser(?)
Mentioned on 1984. 'RMI' is mentioned on Retro, too. Most likely the Computer Piano or possibly the Rocksichord, (maybe even the electra piano but that seems less likely to me). Could also be a Harmonic Synthesiser that he has been keeping hidden from us, but probably not.
